Agreement made this Seventy-sixth day of October One Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty-four between Thomas Donaldson Selby of Brighton Terrace, Brixton, in the County of Surrey Gentleman of the one part; and George Baillie, of Cannon Row, in the City of Westminster, Esquire, Agent-General for Crown Colonies, for and on behalf of Her Majesty, of the other part.
Whereas Thomas Donaldson Selby hath been duly appointed Chief Clerk in the Treasurer's Department of Hong Kong and hath received the sum of One Hundred pounds in advance on account of his salary in consideration of the premises doth hereby agree with the said George Baillie, that should he the said Thomas Donaldson Selby relinquish his said Appointment or quit the said Colony without leave within the period of Three Years from the date of his arrival in the said Colony, that he the said Thomas Donaldson Selby will, upon so quitting the said Colony, or relinquishing his said Appointment, refund and repay to the Colonial Secretary of the Government of the said Colony for the time being, or to the Agent-General for the said Colony in London for the time being, the said sum of One Hundred pounds advanced to him the said Thomas Donaldson Selby,
